Bringing the Tastes of Thanksgiving to Your Food Truck
November starts the holidays off in a big way with the flavors and scents of fall. Nothing sets the stage for the cozy season quite like those heartwarming spices and mouthwatering flavors of Thanksgiving. People love a bit of nostalgia, especially around this time of year. Maximize those feelings by incorporating the tastes of Thanksgiving into your food truck menu this month.
Incorporate Turkey
Few things say Thanksgiving quite like a moist, tender, aromatic turkey. Turkey is also extremely versatile and can be substituted for just about anything. If you sell sandwiches, why not add a seasonal turkey and cranberry sandwich? How about a turkey kabob instead of chicken or lamb? Turkey legs are always a huge hit at fairs and amusement parks–maybe add that to your repertoire for the month. And can anyone say turkey burger? You’re already a flavor expert, so dream up something that celebrates Benjamin Franklin’s favorite bird!
Spice Things Up
Many die-hard fans no longer call the season between summer and winter “fall”. For them, it’s now fondly referred to as pumpkin spice season! Pumpkin spice, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon–they are all the irresistible flavors and smells of autumn. Don’t miss this opportunity to bring in the fall spices. Think cinnamon apple, ginger, and, of course, pumpkin spice. You can add those flavors to pretty much anything. Or, bring out a few traditional dishes that feature those spices as seasonal menu items.
Go Nutty
Nut lovers get their heyday in the fall with the myriad of dishes featuring nuts that come from all over the world. Pecan pie, nut bread, nut brittle, praline topping, baklava, macarons, bienenstich kuchen, German chocolate cake, hazelnut cream, almond toffee, nutty fudge–you can’t go wrong with any of them! If you really want to bring in the crowds, make candied pecans from scratch during open hours and waft those sweet, toasty, spicy aromas to every nostril in the vicinity! People will come running!
Folks love seasonal items. Not only are they a rare treat, but they definitely put the pressure on people to get theirs before they’re gone. Plus, anything that helps someone get into the spirit of the season is a big bonus! You should be able to incorporate the tastes of Thanksgiving into your menu, regardless of what type of food you serve.
