Tips for Catering to Customer Needs, from Start to Finish

Running a successful food truck is no small task. There are so many things to keep track of and manage, from costs and cooking to sales and service. All of those are essential to your success, but at the end of the day, a lot of it boils down to how well you take care of your customers. Do you know how to cater to their needs from beginning to end?

Offer User-Friendly Ordering

The first thing a customer needs is to place their order. The easier you make this, the happier they’ll be. Start by making sure your menu is easily readable and includes pricing. Food trucks often operate in noisy areas, so work around that by using a more user-friendly ordering option. You could utilize a POS system that allows customers to place their orders electronically. The best version of this is to accept mobile orders right through the WTF app. Alternatively, you could have someone outside the food truck taking orders and relaying them to those inside. That can be a great option if language barriers pose a problem.

Maintain Rapid Service

Fast service is key to customer satisfaction. It doesn’t matter how amazing your food is if it takes too long to get to your customer. Maintain rapid service by prepping everything in advance that you can prepare without compromising quality. Keep your equipment in good condition so it works properly. Focus on efficiency and speed by streamlining your food truck menu and designing dishes that are easy to cook and serve quickly.

Anticipate Extra Needs

You don’t want to be the food truck that doesn’t have everything your customers need to fully enjoy their meal. Think about what they might need aside from their food. Do they need utensils? Are there condiments they might want to add once they have their food? Will napkins help them eat neatly and keep their hands clean? Maintain a stock of such supplies at all times. Check on them regularly when you have them laid out for customers so you can restock them as needed to avoid running out.

The more satisfied your customers are, the easier it will be for your food truck to be successful. If you take good care of your customers from the moment they step up to your window until they leave with their order, it’s so much easier to leave the sort of impression that will entice them to come back again (and bring others with them). Remember, people talk. You might as well give them something good to talk about.
