Give Your Food Truck a Memorial Day Makeover

Give Your Food Truck a Memorial Day Makeover

This Memorial Day, get into the spirit of the holiday and give your food truck a Memorial Day makeover. Showing your support and holiday spirit can go a long way toward increasing the positivity with which customers view your food truck. So how should you decorate your food truck in honor of Memorial Day?

Flags

Adding flags to your food truck does a couple of things for you. First, it’s an easy way to decorate, since attaching flags to vehicles is pretty common. Second, because flags flow freely in the wind (which the American flag should be allowed to do per the United States Flag Code), they are very eye-catching, drawing attention to both your food truck and your Memorial Day enthusiasm. If possible, keep your flags at half-staff until noon, at which point they should be raised to full-staff.

Streamers

Streamers and buntings are another great way to decorate your food truck for Memorial Day. They add color and movement to your food truck which accomplishes similar goals to what adding flags does. You can attach streamers to the top of your truck and any overhang you might have. Buntings make a great drape for any counter edges, tables, and the space under windows. If you choose to layer red, white, and blue buntings, the proper order is to have blue at the top, white in the middle, and red at the bottom.

Offer Discounts for Service Members

Memorial Day is meant to honor the men and women who served in our country’s military and paid the ultimate price while doing so. There isn’t much you can do to personally thank them for their service at this point, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still do something for those who might someday be called upon to do the same. Consider offering discounts for current service members. Advertise your discounts on your food truck’s signage and your website and app if you have one.

Memorial Day is a perfect opportunity to show patriotism and appreciation for the freedoms we have that our service men and women have fought and died for. Don’t be afraid to put a little holiday spirit into your food truck’s appearance to commemorate the day. When you’re through, see what you can save from your holiday decor – you can probably reuse some of it on the 4th of July and Veteran’s Day.

Decorations are a good first step, but you need more than that – you need to make your food truck irresistible! Click here for Where’s The Foodtruck’s suggestions for how to make that happen!
